Monster Blobs

This past week in our pre-k seedling classes we read the story GO AWAY BIG GREEN MONSTER! by Ed Emberley.

This is a great story for children to learn about shapes, color, position words and sequence.  Re-Reading the story backwards is also fun for it offers the children  a new way to predict what part of the monster comes next to make him  re-appear piece by piece!

Afterwards we created blob prints, mixing green, blue and purple paint.  And then adding eyes nose, ears, hair and teeth to create our own monsters.  Connecting books with art is a great way to expand on the concepts found in the story.  Children become very excited to see that they made an image similar to the one in the story.

Children named their monsters and even went as far to tell a story about what their monsters like to eat-I never new monsters like tofu!

See you at the Next Studio!
