Clay Scarab Beetle

In this sculpture studio, Little Artists worked with clay to make a scarab beetle.  Scarab Beetles are brightly colored metallic beetles worshipped by the ancient Egyptians and found in many artifacts. Little Artists softened the clay to form the different parts of the beetles body. Using clay tools, artists added texture  to make each beetle more realistic.

Planning our metallic color scheme was the last step.  We wanted to choose colors and patterns that would make our scarab beetles look real.
