In this Drawing and Painting studio, Little Artists took a look at Architecture from all over the world. Looking at the very first types of buildings built years ago by hand to the strong steel skyscrapers we build today using machines. Many of the buildings we looked at we could recognize which country it was from just by its architectural features.
Big Ben, Louvre, Neuschwanstein Castle (Disney Land), and Eiffel Tower.
The Parethenon, Taj Mahal, The Forbidden City and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.
We chose a few of our favorites to draw and carve onto foam plates. The carved foam plates were then inked with a brayer printed onto our watercolor horizon line. The goal was to depict the colors we see when the sun sets, mixing blues, reds and yellows.
Each of our buildings were also reflected into the water.
Before taking our final pieces home we each shared what we liked about each others work and what we thought was easy and/or challenging about printmaking.
