Pantyhose Sculptures

In this Mixed Media Sculpture Studio, Little Artists made funky wire and pantyhose sculptures. A wood block  was used for the sculptures base.  Two holes were drilled into each side of the block to hold the ends of the 16 gauge wire.   Artists then organically bent the wire until the wire was in an abstract shape that they liked.  (Creating a 3-D sculpture to represent an actual subject would be difficult for beginners.) Once the wire was shaped and secured in place the sculpture was covered tight with nylon and tied underneath the wood block.

Next, the sculptures were primed with Gesso and painted over two days.

Deciding what the sculpture was to become after the Gessso was dry was the best part, for there were so many possibilities...these artists found a Blue Dino and a Fuscia Whale hidden in their sculptures.
