Story Tile Relief, Calder Wire and Story Stones

In our Mixed Media Studio, Little Artists have been busy creating a variety of projects. The first project was a Story Tile Relief made out of clay.  Artists worked the air bubbles out of the clay as they rolled the tile slab.  Story features were sculpted and "scored and welded" onto the tile. When the tile was dry it was painted and glazed.  This tile below was about a trip a Little Artists was taking with her mother and little brother to Boston. IMG_3163

The next project was creating Story Stones, which are painted stones that represent events, characters or settings to be used to make up and tell stories.

Little Artists also created an Alexander Calder Animal Portrait with 20 gauge wire.  The bent portraits were then attached to a spray painted canvas to reflect the shadow.
