Candy Still Life Part 2

In this Drawing and Painting studio, Little Artists learned how to set up their own still life using their favorite candies.  And since it is almost Halloween, its the perfect time to find all of our favorite candies at the store ….Lifesavers, Smarties, Skittles and Snickers. IMG_5829 IMG_5832

First, we drew blind contour drawings of our candies. We also looked at proportion and perspective.  How are the candies compared in size and space in our still life? Is there overlap? Can you see the whole candy? We practiced only drawing what we see, not what we think we should see!

Little Artists looked at still life work by the Famous American POP art painter, Wayne Theibaud. His still life paintings of painted cakes and pastries inspired us to use bright colors and sharp shadows in our work.

Working with watercolor can have its challenges.  Mixing paint, blending, adding shadows, runs and drips!  But we all know there are no mistakes in art, and we love every characteristic of our art!
