Vintage Sunglass Portraits

Little Artists in this Drawing and Painting Studio, drew their self-portraits from a photo of themselves wearing a funky pair of vintage sunglasses that they chose from the Fine Arts Optical shop on Valencia street & 20th. Artists each decided what reflection they wanted to draw in their sunglasses.  The image was drawn and painted with watercolor pencils. A baseball field, the Golden Gate Bridge, dolphins at sunset and a ferris wheel were chosen.

Artists learned how to use varying hardnesses of graphite pencils to draw and shade their face, hair, and clothing.   Observing the highlights and shadows,  blending and shading grey, and adding textures to create a realistic drawing.

Each background was then painted to make their portraits POP!
