Tissue Paper Portraits

In this fabulous mixed media studio, Little Artists explored a new way to crete a self-portrait. IMG_6832 IMG_6833  Inspired by the work of artist, Cecelia Farnum, we began by drawing a simple sketch outline of ourselves onto a canvas.

Yarn was then glued onto the pencil sketch to give depth and texture to the outline of the face and hair. Artists then painted themselves with pieces of colored tissue paper. The pencil lines of their eyes and mouth and nose shown through the layers of thin tissue.
