Pop Art Portraits; Little Artists will learn about Andy Warhol and paint their portrait using an expressive photograph of themselves taken in the studio. Artists chose bright colored paints to highlight their facial features (eyes, hair, nose, mouth) on a piece of clear acetate, tracing over their photo. The painted portrait was then layered onto a bright multi-watercolored background with a speech bubble phrase of choice and framed in 8x12 glass.
Pop Art Sneakers;
In this Painting Studio, Little Artists carved and printed from a drawing of their sneaker or sandal to create 4 colorful prints on contrasting paper. Lots of detail.
In this Painting and Drawing Studio, Little Artists studied the artist, Gustav Klimt and his painting, The Tree of Life.
Focusing on the cloaks the figures are wearing in Gustav's painting Artists used similar patterns, symbols, and colors to recreate a photo collage of themselves in a patchwork cloak.
End of class compliment session.
In this painting Studio, Little Artists created a cardboard flower relief sculpture on canvas using hundreds of sliced toilet paper rolls. The sliced toilet paper rolls were pieced together into different flower formations and vines that fit tightly onto a square canvases. Before attaching their finished cardboard relief, artists painted the backgrounds of their flowers.
